Explanation

You are occupationally disabled when you are no longer able to work. Did you know that 40.000 socially insured people become incapacitated for work each year and that the chance of incapacity for work during your working life is 35%? This can be due to illness or an accident, also outside of work, such as during sports. You can therefore become incapacitated forwork for a short or longer period. With us you can opt for insurance through the UWV or coverage with an insurer. If you earn more than € 12.000 a year, we believe you should be insured. That is why we make this required.

Incapacity for work insured by social insurance via the UWV

We transfer the employee premiums to the UWV for you. You are therefore insured for all employee insurance policies of the UWV, these cover unemployment and disability. The costs for these social insurances are 19% including the health insurance law which is always levied on income even when you are not socially insured. Social insurance is the only way to insure unforeseen unemployment. If you are socially insured to only cover the risk of occupational disability, this can be done against a broader coverage and in most cases cheaper. Insuring disability through the Insurer

At Avéro Achmea you can insure yourself for occupational disability. You will not be insured for unemployment, but you will pay the health insurance bill at 5.7% (2019). With a turnover from 1000 euros per month, this insurance or coverage via the UWV is mandatory. The coverage is tailor-made by Avéro Achmea. You always insure 70% on your average turnover, for this a fixed percentage is deducted from your gross income and you never pay too much. To make it easy, we have three variants, so that you can choose what suits you best.

Insurance card & policy conditions

Option Explanation
Option 1 - Maximum security A periodic payment in the event of occupational disability up to 68 years, taking into account a deductible period of 2 months.
Option 2 - Security in the event of long-term disability A periodic payment in the event of occupational disability up to 68 years, taking into account a deductible period of 2 years.
Option 3 - Limited security A periodic payment in the event of occupational disability up to a maximum of 5 years from the occurrence of the occupational disability, taking into account a deductible period of 2 months.

Health declaration

A health certificate is required for the insurance. Avéro Achmea thus formsa picture of your health. They thereby determine whether you can participate.

At Avéro Achmea you can easily fill in the health declaration digitally. This is usually sufficient, but sometimes additional specific questions are asked afterwards. A medical examination is rare.

Roadmap

If you are not socially insured and you meet the minimum requirements to be insured, we will offer a collective AOV insurance in cooperation with ABN Amro Verzekeringen and Avéro Achmea.

  1. ABN Amro Insurance will send you an e-mail with extensive information so that you can choose the coverage that suits you. They also ask you, for example, for your profession, so that the chance of incapacity for work can be determined and thus the premium corresponding to the coverage you have chosen. You can contact ABN Amro for questions about the insurance application, coverage and changes. We only provide your name and (e-mail) address.

  2. Avéro Achmea is the insurer and will be informed by ABN Amro Verzekeringen of your choice and will send you an email with a login code and link. With the login code, date of birth and policy number you create a password, after which you can fill in the health declaration online.

    After completing the health declaration, you are immediately covered by the provisional coverage of Avéro Achmea. We will deduct the premium from your invoice based on your choice and pay it out as usual.

  3. Avéro Achmea assesses the health declaration and may, if they deem it necessary, request additional information from you. You will hear as soon as possible if you are:
    1. a. Approved. The provisional coverage is converted to a definitive coverage.
    2. b. Approved under conditions. Then the AOV will not insure certain causes of incapacity for work. If Avéro Achmea offers you an AOV with an exclusion, they always clearly explain why they do this and what the consequences are. If you agree, the provisional coverage will be converted to a definitive coverage. If you do not agree, we will offer you an alternative.
    3. c. You are not approved. Verloning.nl will offer you an alternative.

  4. We will be informed about your participation in the insurance and which premium percentage we must withhold.
